Our Story
Visitors to Goole town centre recently will have seen that work is coming on apace with the new venue. We started on site in September and it won’t be long before the roof and walls are in place and construction work then begins to form the inside of the building. Eventually, the venue will offer a 170 seat mixed use auditorium, separate workshop space for all our activities and classes, café/bar, office and meeting rooms and artist studio spaces.
We are beginning to prepare for the opening season, which will be in Autumn 2009 and also thinking about projects to take place during the construction period itself. If you have ideas of what you’d like to see – perhaps a favourite performer or company from the 15 year history of The Gate – now is the time to let us know! You may also be interested to have a closer look at the site hoardings, where we have displayed the results of school and photography projects – there is more to come.
